Florida’s most popular destination: Stetson Mansion

Florida's most popular tourist destination is the Stetson Mansion in DeLand, according to the TripAdvisor.com Popularity Index. The travel website reached its conclusion by looking at the quality, quantity and recency of customer reviews for tourist attractions around the country.

The Stetson Mansion's best-in-Florida status was reported in May by national weekly magazine Parade.

Of course, industry observers and the Stetson Mansion owners themselves don't believe the historic house is more well-known or heavily visited than attractions like the Magic Kingdom, which hosted 18.5 million guests last year, or Universal Studios in Orlando, which saw more than 7 million visitors.

However, the recognition does mean free national publicity for the Stetson Mansion and shows that the attraction has a loyal following, said J.T. Thompson, who co-owns the mansion.
